OZZIE WEB SERIES "EVENT ZERO" LAUNCHES

Event Zero is a new web series from Distracted Media, the award-winning team that brought you the worldwide internet smash hit movie 'The Tunnel'. It's free, it's cool and the first mini-episode is available right now.

I'm really enjoying on the evolution of episodic storytelling that is happening on film, TV and the Web. Something closer to the classic serials of the 30's and 40's is starting to emerge - but very different as well. Film has it's obvious limitations and as popular as trilogies and franchise properties like the Bond series are, there's little to link the episodes together. It's not much of a series really. For the longest time TV networks used to rule serial storytelling, and in fact, TV is enjoying a real boom of excellent programming that's arguably better than ever before, but... some of the most interesting and innovative attempts at serial storytelling are happening online. It's a virtual wild west of creative energy with few rules and few masters to answer to. It's a great recipe for innovation.

Event Zero tells seven interconnected stories of people caught up in an event much bigger than they are. A report comes in of a train derailment near Circular Quay. Smoke billows from the wreckage and victims pour onto the streets. As the emergency workers arrive at the chaotic scene, they realize the biggest threat is only just emerging. People without a scratch are collapsing on the ground and dying - and it is spreading. Unless someone can work out what is going on the death toll will continue to rise. This moment is Event Zero.
